The ACCA Art Bar is back, bigger, brighter and better than ever.
We’re teaming up with ACCA to bring you sensational artists as part of their Art Bar series throughout 2013.
Join us on Friday 1 March, as we kick off our first ACCA Art Bar of the year.
Oscar Key Sung (of renowned Melbourne duo Oscar + Martin) will draw you in with his rich vocals, deep bass and honest words. Think soulful melodies over tape loops and beats. The result is nothing short of luscious, and with an album on the cards in 2013 catch him first, live at ACCA.
Oscar will be followed by long time music lovers and collectors, Two Bright Lakes DJs, who will finish off the ACCA Art Bar with diverse, danceworthy selections.
ACCA’s current exhibition Desire Lines will stay open until 7.30pm for an exclusive, extended viewing before it closes on 3 March.
Embrace the end of the week at the ACCA Art Bar.

With projections and visuals by Kit Webster and Markus Hofko
Lauded Melbourne visual projection artist Kit Webster will make his third mind-melting main stage appearance at Sugar Mountain2013. Webster will expand on his previous two appearances at Sugar Mountain, taking us home with an expanding audio-responsive visual set for Action Bronson & Dirty Projectors.
German-born, New Zealand based artist Markus Hofko will make his Sugar Mountain debut with a series of swirling, live projections. Hofko will dress the main stage with live visual splendor for acts Woods and ESG.
Within The Forum’s many hidden nooks, local flamboyant artisan Hamishi will await you. Collaborating with musician and sound artist Henry Fin Madin (The Harpoons), the pair aims to draw you into their audio/visual world, bound to confuse and boggle, all in a strange and colourful manner.

The Summit is a stage of collaborative performances, visual sensations and otherworldly experiences.
Climb the stairs to the very summit of Sugar Mountain’s peak and find yourself drawn into the world of Phantôscopia. An extra-sensory exploration of human perception and phantasmagoria in a panoramic audio-visual experiment, Phantôscopia will take participants on a hypnotic journey to explore and project the shadowy landscapes of the Mind.
In early 2012, Kirin J Callinan and Kris Moyes had a meeting of minds which spawned one of the most arresting music video clipsto come out of Australia, ever. Enigmatic performer and strange fellow Kirin J Callinan and acclaimed sociopathic director Kris Moyes reunite for their collaborative live debut at Sugar Mountain. What will they do? We don’t know. But we trust them.
Melbourne based synth outfit Forces will collaborate with acclaimed choreographer Antony Hamilton (Chunky Move, Australian Dance Theatre, Lucy Guerin). The result? Another ‘must see’ one-off performance, curated just for Sugar Mountain. As a choreographer, Antony Hamilton created dances for The Lyon Opera Ballet, Australian Dance Theatre, Chunky Move, Dancenorth, LINK, The Victorian College of the Arts, Stompin and Rogue. This is sure to be an unforgettable, confrontational performance.

For one night only, Nick Huggins and his band will be re-creating his achingly beautiful soundtrack for ‘I Am Eleven’ live on stage. Gentle but piercingly insightful, like the film itself, it will be a unique accompaniment to this funny, sweet and knowing meditation on the things about growing up that bind us together, and those that tear us apart.
Directed by Genevieve Bailey, ‘I Am Eleven’ is a truly joyful cinematic experience, and Nick’s score a triumph, don’t miss out on the chance to see it performed live this Thursday night at ACMI.

Over the last 2 years, Schoolhouse Studios in Abbotsford has been the workplace of over 75 artists working across a wide range of disciplines. With the demolition of the site planned for the end of 2012, resulting in the displacement of the tenants, founders Elizabeth Barnett & Alice Glenn, in conjunction with Melbourne International Arts Festival, are curating a two-week, site-wide exhibition. To find out more about the artists involved, go to the Place of Assembly website.
Playing at the opening night, Wednesday October 10th, from 8pm, are Fox + Sui, Speed Painters, Client Liason and Two Bright Lakes DJs. It’s free and you won’t regret coming and celebrating one of the most vibrant artistic communities in Melbourne, before it’s gone…

Following up on the digital release of their oceanic single Summer Storm, Melbourne dream pop duo Fox + Sui release their debut six track EP Taboo through Two Bright Lakes and Remote Control. Featuring the delicate 4-track production work of Melbourne’s Andras Fox and the vocal and lyrical talents of former Sydney resident Sui Zhen, the Taboo EP is a beautifully textured collaboration between two musical minds who first made contact as part of the Red Bull Music Academy in London 2010.
Following support slots with TuneYards, Knxwledge, Lost Animal, Oscar + Martin and collaborations with James Pants, Fox + Sui have honed a striking and colourful live show that has impressed audiences along the east coast of Australia and will be playing selected shows in Melbourne throughout October and November.
Moving from lounge pop through syncopated beats and library music, the EP is a taste of an exotic concoction brewing, with Fox + Sui at work on a full length album due out in 2013.
The Taboo EP is available on CD and for digital download from October 12th, 2012 and is available from all good record stores and online through Two Bright Lakes.

Two Bright Lakes is 5 years old and excited to welcome Philly beatmaker KNXWLEDGE to Australia for very first time. The highly regarded remixer and producer follows on the back of worldwide acclaim and work for some of the biggest names in the business. With support from Two Bright Lakes family Oscar + Martin and Fox & Sui, come and join us as we boogie on our Birthday with TBL DJ’s before between and after it’s all done.
If you don’t know KNXWLEDGE, he performs live as an undefinable and unexplainable solo unit, channelling the vibes (and facing comparisons) of J DIlla, Madlib, Flying Lotus and associates, his work is thematic and naturally organic.
Releasing on LA’s acclaimed All City, Tres Records, Klipmode and Hit+Run, his name caught the eye of London’s Boiler Room who invited him to perform on their legendary podcast series. With support from the likes of Benji B, Mary Anne Hobbs, RinseFM, Future Classic, Illumsphere, and Mike Slott, he is a name on the rise with a sound for the stars.
Available now at http://www.moshtix.com.au/event.aspx?id=58143 and on the door if there are any left.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us get to this point, we could not have done it without our friends, mentors and fellow artists. And most of all thank you to everyone who listened and came to events, there is much more to come, happy listening…
